Mississippi Inmate Datasearch

As much as it may be hard to find an inmate across the whole State, mitigation measures have been set up to help locate an inmate. Mississippi State has a free DOC inmate datasearch.

To begin the search, you only need an internet connection and some information about the inmate you are looking for. You will need the inmates' names or IDs to start a search.

First, go to the official inmate search page, where you can start your search on the criteria box. A page will come up with the search results, including the full first and last names, the offenses committed, the length of the sentence, and the location of the facility they are held at.

If you narrow down the inmate and click on the name, you will be taken to a page where you can see the inmate's picture, birth date, and more details about them. If going online bears no fruit, you also have the option of calling different facilities and making inquiries about the inmate. At worst, you can make a physical trip to different facilities as you look for the inmate.

Contacting an Inmate

Mississippi provides several ways for friends and loved ones to get in contact with an inmate. You can contact the inmate by telephone. Deposit money through Global Tel* Link (GTL) for an inmate's phone account.

As inmates are getting through their reception into the prison facility, they are required to provide a list of people they wish to get in contact with while incarcerated. They can update this list every six months.

Inmates are also allowed mail subject to certain rules and regulations specific to each institution.

Sending Money

Mississippi State offers inmates a variety of ways to receive money from loved ones.

Some of the ways you can send funds to an inmate include:

  • Walk in- Here, friends can deposit money into the inmate's account through MoneyGram or western union. In the case of MoneyGram, you will need to get a code 1206. For western union, you need a blue Quick Collect form and will require a few details about the inmate.
  • Internet- You also have the option of depositing money online through JPay, OffenderConnect, AccsessCorrections, or Western Union

All these companies will allow both debit and credit cards.

Visitation

Visits are a huge part of the Mississippi prison and jail system due to their importance to the inmate's temperament ad recidivism rate. Most people may feel a bit awkward if they are to visit a prison, which reduces the chance of them even asking how to go about the process. Here's how it generally goes.

During the initial introduction of the inmate into the prison, they are asked to fill out a form with up to ten visitors. The visitors chosen will then be sent a visitor application form.

The inmate will also have to inform you of your visitor's application status, as the facility will not provide that information.

Apart from immediate family members, you can only have one visitor per offender, meaning you cannot be on two offenders' visitation lists.

  • All visitors must come with a valid form of identification
  • All minors must be accompanied, and the guardian must come with the minor's birth certificate
  • All visitors will be subjected to a metal detector
  • No recording devices, cell phones, and other electronics inside the facilities
  • No drugs or tobacco-related products allowed
  • If you leave a visiting area, the visitation is terminated.

Rules relating to dress code include:

  • No sleeveless tops or clothes showing the midriff, back shoulders, or cleavage
  • No see-through or spandex-level tight clothes
  • All pants and shorts should be worn above the waist
  • No jewelry except for wedding rings and religious medallion
  • Hats, caps, and bandanas, or items covering the face should not be worn
