When using VINELink, include the inmate’s full name, court number, identification number, and the Metropolitan Police Department identification number (PDID). If you are unsure of their full names, you can enter partial names and then enter the last two characters of their last name. You will get all the potential searches and inmates with such names. Besides searching online, you can also call VINE at (877) 329-7894 and give the same details.

The agency publishes the most wanted offenders on its site, together with their photos. You can click on the photo and get their description, charges and even the release date

Another option is to contact the Department’s Records Office at (202) 523-7060. You will get full details of your inmate, including sentencing and conviction details as well as release details.

Inmate Roster

Washington DC inmate roster gives all the details about all the inmates held in the facilities in the District of Columbia. The inmate roster is availed to the public online in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act. The inmate roster contains crucial information such as the inmate booking details, inmate biodata, probable release date, and the arresting agency.

The roster is considered a public document in the country, so you can get it through government agencies, third-party organizations, and websites. However, it’s good to note that the details on the inmate roster provided by the third-party websites may differ from the ones you get from official government channels. Another critical thing to note is that the inmate roster doesn’t offer details about Juveniles. Their information is confidential, so not available to the public.

Washington DC jail inmate roster is created when an offender is arrested. The law enforcers open their file, known as the RAP sheet. The roster is updated as the offender goes through the systems, like when the inmate is moved to another correctional facility or if there is a change in their situation.

Washington D.C. Department of Corrections

The Washington DC Department of Corrections (DC DOC) manages all adult jails and other correctional facilities in the District of Columbia. The Deputy City Administrator manages the agency. It runs The Central Detention Facility, also referred to as the D.C. jail and the Correctional Treatment Facility.

The department doesn’t provide a prison lookup tool for the public to search for inmates in all the correction facilities it runs. You can use VINELink to perform inmate searches in the correction facilities under its jurisdiction.

It’s the most prominent municipal correctional agency managing an average of 1700 inmates. Besides the jail, the agency is also responsible for managing three private-operation halfway houses. They are independent houses for community placement of offenders. They provide a wide range of programming services and educational opportunities. The halfway houses include Hope Village, Fairview, and Extended House, Inc.

The Washington DC Department of Corrections (DC DOC) also runs county jails and state prisons that house offenders who have committed crimes within the District of Columbia. It runs the prison system, while the (DYRS) or Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services, runs two detention facilities that house juvenile offenders.

Federal prisons house federal offenders of crimes such as embezzlement of funds, political crimes, fraud, and others and are run by the Department of Justice.

The department provides several programs for the offenders, including pre and post-release case planning, education, housing, reentry, mentoring and mental health, and substance abuse programs to rehabilitate the offenders and help them adapt to life after their release.

Inmates nearing the end of their sentence are placed on parole or other programs that enhance their successful reentry to the community. Family members and the community are involved in some of these reentry programs.
